This was my second consecutive year competing in the Design-a-thon, where students are challenged with creating an avant-garde sculpture.

My group and I created “Global Circuit,” a concept exploring the future of sport through the legacy of New Era. Inspired by the brand’s partnership with Formula 1, the piece uses a racing track structure wrapping around the body to symbolize speed, movement, and the global momentum of sport.
The track reflects New Era’s journey from producing caps for Major League Baseball teams to becoming a globally recognized symbol within sport and street culture. The “world crown” at the top reinforces the brand’s worldwide reach, while racing flag colors reference competition and energy, with red highlighting the cultural impact of the iconic red New York Yankee cap requested by Spike Lee, which was a pivotal moment in the way collaboration and customization were approached. The Yankees logo appears only on the red section because many people recognize New Era through the Yankees cap, as it is often the first hat many people owned.
